In the closing days of World War II, American troops discovered a deep salt mine in the city of Merkers, Germany. Townspeople tipped off the Americans that the mine was used by the German high command to secretly stash millions of dollars worth of confiscated precious art from holocaust victims and countries plundered. In the dimly lit mine, American generals discovered over eight thousand bars of gold bullion, bags of gold and silver, and platinum stacked in neat rows on the floor. A thorough search uncovered a mind-boggling treasure that shocked the wildest imaginations of the generals. The loot was staggering. Almost the entire German treasure had been hidden to be used by the Germans to finance Hitler’s war. Some of the treasure trove belonged to high-ranking officials of the German government, including Hitler himself, with their initials stamped on bars of gold bullion and other precious items stored in specially constructed safes to be smuggled out of Germany after its collapse. A small number of American soldiers serving as guards in the mine were able to smuggle out diamonds valued in the millions. Thus begins the intriguing mystery of thirty flawless diamonds hidden in a house in Miami, Florida, undiscovered for half a century. The search for the diamonds during the occupancy of three different families will mystify you.
