The way it was organized made it easy to understand and grasp the various concepts related to sociology.read more
This author's writing is clear and understandable. Unlike many others that fill it with language that seems dry.
I felt like this book was a bit more difficult to use, mostly because I wasn't too interested in the topic. Once you get used to it and read through chapters because the quizzes then it became more helpful.read more
It was an online class. With quizzes and discussions every week.
I would not change a thing. I really liked this book- I found myself reading it even when I didn't have to for class!read more
I learned a lot of things that related to my every day life. This book did a great job at relating a lot of the subject matter to things the readers could understand.
Talks about our society as well as the societies we aren't that aware of. The most useful thing I learned was about culture shock and innate racism.read more
Nothing, it was very well formatted and educational.
I learned a lot from different cultures and that had to be the most interesting part of the book since I still haven't had the chance to personal visit other countries and meet people from different cultures.read more
It made me see the world from an outside perspective without being judgemental of other peoples habits, religions, ethnicities and cultures.
Intro to sociology was a great class that put practical experiences into technical terms. and made us think about where we each fit into society. We did a chapter a night and had open discussions.read more
This book made me think about things you never really think about in regards to how society is divided and its effects on current and future cultures. How marriage and family issues, politics & economics have the power to change things just as much as gender, race, age and ethnicity can. It taught me to break down all the different subcultures that I fit into and how each one has made changes in my life.
it related the sociological concepts to real world problems. Such as real life stories and reliable sources.read more
I took an online sociology class. We used this book to answer questions online and this book made it really helpful to learn the material on my own.
The online use of this course, and lecture was extremely helpful. It was like having a teacher at home.read more
I personally learned that i enjoyed having an online course rather than an in class lecture. i found i was able to learn more efficiently.
Easy to read and follow along. A good guide throughout the whole class.read more

I loved this book, the way the author explained the subject was just perfect and opened my understanding over the subject!
I enjoyed the honesty the author displayed in the book regarding government and the hierarchy involved in politics. I think that was useful.read more
I wouldn't change anything about this book, other than maybe including more real life experiences.
I used it for an introductory sociology class, and it fit the class well and was very interesting also. It was all entertaining articles and subjects.read more
I would have enjoyed them going into more detail about women sociologists. They touch on it at the beginning but it's very short and very vague, and I thought that that particular article was an interesting read.
