I enjoyed the honesty the author displayed in the book regarding government and the hierarchy involved in politics. I think that was useful.read more
I wouldn't change anything about this book, other than maybe including more real life experiences.
I used it for an introductory sociology class, and it fit the class well and was very interesting also. It was all entertaining articles and subjects.read more
I would have enjoyed them going into more detail about women sociologists. They touch on it at the beginning but it's very short and very vague, and I thought that that particular article was an interesting read.
This book is absolutely amazing. I may be a bit biased, considering the fact that Sociology is my favorite subject, however this was a fantastic read. My professor summarized each chapter in the form of power points, but the book was still necessary in some cases. The chapter reviews were detailed and accurate, great for reviewing right before an exam instead of having to read the entire chapter again. Also, it is a very pretty book. :)read more
The primary subject was the many different areas of sociological perspective and steps taken by individuals to reforming societies. My course was only for the summer and therefore we didn't get through the entire book, but we did cover at least 11 chapters. From those 11, I learned many things on subjects that are sensitive, and subjects that are not.
