Watching accounts of the Iraqi insurgency, Ed Howlette, Sr., vividly recalls methods taught by RAM to form and maintain terror cells. Stock piling guns and ammunition, using trained snipers, knocking out communication lines, disabling police, using gasoline to destroy public transportation systems, and providing instructions on how to prepare and launch molotov cocktails were just some of the terror tactics to be used in bringing about revolution. From 1965 to 1967, he was undercover in an organization espousing revolution with plans to assassinate Robert Kennedy and prominent civil rights leaders. For his bravery in the terror cell he was decorated by the NYPD, labeled an enemy of the people” by some, and a patriot” by others. We journey with him as he recalls early childhood in a state that denied his heritage, as he balanced family life with undercover work in the Revolutionary Action Movement, as he operated his law firm, and as he became active in politics and the community. From humble beginnings, he rose to a position of prestige and admiration and fell to one of seeking employment to support his family. Time after time, Ed’s story illustrates that to overcome adversity one must be focused on goals, strive for success, and never quit.
