The book title ERACISM is a metaphor for the self-defeating aspects of the Black American community as it has approached empowerment” politics in the post Civil Rights era. This approach has positioned the Black American community as the weakest of all minorities,” despite the historic numerical advantage and the proliferation of Black American elected officials. The political damage that blacks inflict on themselves may be the critical factor perpetuating their current political weakness. The narrative covers the 1960s to the present, and is from the perspective of a young man developing into adulthood during one of the most dynamic eras in the 20th century in the context of the proliferation of drugs, the Civil Rights and Black Power political movements, and the lack of confidence in government. The unfolding saga portends a dubious future for the main character and the Black American community at large. In particular, the narrative chronicles the social, political, and economic dynamics associated with the interaction between the ruling political bulls” and the emerging political bucks” as the subtext of the larger and historical struggle by Black Americans for equity and justice.
