This book has been written for students of A level Further Mathematics, and it is also a useful text for some college and university courses. It aims to be accessible to students who have only limited access to a teacher. The book is about the three activities involved in practical applications of mathematics: making a mathematical model of a situation; the solution of simple versions of models by exact formulas; and the numerical solution of more difficult models to compare with reality.
