this book explains many english theories in simple terms. It is very helpful for English majors. Not only that but it provides many examples that are very helpful. The stories referred to are also very interesting. It was recommended by my teacher so it showed me that this was a good book to have.read more
Pictures would be nice but it's understandable. The book itself is not hard to read just full if information. This is not a bad thing however. I did hope that we could have used this more in class.
From reading all these books not I can say I have an open mind especially from reading the critical theory one. There were so many theory that I was ignorance to. The pocket style one helped me write essays and cite them. A very helpful book by the way.read more
The book A Pocket Style Manuel was one of the most helpful ones to me since it help me to cite my essays in different ways especially since some professors wan certain essays cited in very specific ways.
Critical Theory Today covered modern trends in literary theory and was fairly clear in explaining and exemplifying these trends. A shorter, more condensed version would have been more helpful for me, however the ideas were well explained.read more
The length was most difficult for me. It was better to read through than to use for quick reference. A better book would be more concise and layout and material.
