Edition:  Third Edition
Pub Date:
Publisher:  W. W. Norton & Company
Summary: Taking a highly interdisciplinary approach, the authors balance cognitive theory, with neuroscientific and neuropsychological evidence to reveal what we currently know about how the human mind works and to encourage students to think like cognitive neuroscientists. The text has been reorganized to move more seamlessly from micro to macro level topics, and its underlying pedagogy strengthened in order to make it an ev...en more effective teaching tool. The take-home messages part of the book is something I could have done without. A more elaborate summary may have been better; the current format is too succinct to be of much use. But overall, this is one of the best textbooks on any subject I've ever had to study.

I was surprised to find that there were two cortical pathways for visual perception, and that one controls recognition while the other processes the actual visual data streaming through the retina. The related issue of blindsight was something that I'm still fascinated by.

The primary subject of this book was understand the molecular structure within our complex minds wrapped around our chemistry and anatomy.

For the most part math books are math books you don't really read them because you get lectured all day before you do the home work and all you look at is the problems so i'd say its about the same as all the other books.
