I did not like the minimal extent of the examples. I think they should put more into the book to show and explain calculations.read more
I would add more into the text instead of putting the examples into the Pearson website that you need access to.
It would be helpful having an interactive book online to check answers, more examples for each section, and to provide more relevant life examples.it would also be great if the instructions were layed out step by step instead of just examples. Overall it helped me get through the class and it was helpful to haves some of the answers in the back of the book. I thought the problems that were supposed to apply to economics were not very applicable to todays economics. The answers in the book should have been presented in more than one way, fo rinstance in a decimal and a fraction.read more
Examples be explained more thouroughly and more detailed instructions.
This book would be better if it was easier to understand. What our teacher taught us, it was difficult to connect it with the books examples.read more
My class was Business Calculus. Our teacher would teach using powerpoints and we would practice examples from the book.
Graphing functions on a graph was extremely helpful and will help in the future.read more
The derivatives section of the book needed to be longer.
The primary subject of this book was Calculus. This calculus textbook is by far the best. The methods and steps the book illustrates and teaches you are outstanding and are broke down perfectly so that math seems like second nature.read more
That there are so many short cuts to what looks like a difficult problem because it helped save me time on my tests and finals so that I had more time to review my test after completing all of the problems.
It is, by far, the easiest to read and understand math book I have ever owned. I always struggled with math because there was never anything to apply it to, especially calculus. All of it was just useless mumble jumble. However, this book does a good job of presenting the concept, detailing its properties, relating it to relevant subject matters, and then presenting problems in that matter that could be rationally perceived. So, say instead of saying "exponential decay", it presents an experiment with Newton's Law of Cooling and asks you to plot a graph over 30 minutes. With that data, you can visually and mentally connect to the concept of exponential decay. As well, instead of saying "light refracts in water", it sets up a question that makes you consider the realistic process of light refracting by comparing multiple depths and changes in depths and asking you to choose the one that logically corresponds to the amount of refraction occurring. Overall, I was very pleased with the book even though I am not particularly interested in math as a subject.read more
Logarithmic functions and their specifics. Even though it went far more into depth than I honestly wished to go, it helped tremendously when applying the overall concepts to both chemistry and physics, which are two subjects I am interested in, and having to solve problems using the concepts. It gave me concrete and definite knowledge that I was confident in using so that those concepts were not another obstacle to overcome when in quantitative chemistry or physics.
