I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University where I studied with Jim Daniels to hone my poetic craft. My creative and non-fiction writings have been published all over the world in the print and electronic formats. My writings have appeared in journals such as American Tanka, Beginnings, PoetsWest; newsletters such as GriefWarehouse, MISSing Angels, Grief Watch; anthologies such as Cup of Comfort Cookbook from Adams Media, Meant To Be by Joyce & Barry Vissell, and We'Moon '01 from Mother Tongue Ink; and online at New Works Review, Suite101, Druken Boat, She-Zine, BabyLoss, LightHearts, and more. My book, Che-wa, was published by CJ Ink in January 1999. We have released my books, Flash Of Life, Father Son Holy Ghost as well as Mrs. Duck and The Woman, through KotaPress. I especially enjoy performing my poetry while my husband Hawk plays his music. When we perform, we are sometimes billed as HawKara. I partnered with GraviD's Daughter to co-write, produce, and perform the play "maxi pads, angels, and other winged things..." which premiered at the 2001 Mae West Festival in Seattle. I performed the "Hair" monologue as part of the Vashon Island Vday 2002 staging of Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues. For the 2003 Vashon Vday/YoniSpeaks Productions, Hawk and I produced an art show titled "Women's Bodies: Violence & Healing". And over the years, I've worked with FCI, producers of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, as well as Power Trip Productions, producers of The College Bookstore (one of the first online soap operas ever!). I also teach in various formats and settings. Hawk and I have facilitated workshops in art centers, at grief conferences, book festivals, in libraries and more. Most recently we taught Expanding Poetry at the Washington State Poets Association Conference in Olympia, WA, in May 2003. I facilitated Creative Expression: Healing Thru Poetry at the MISS Passages Conference on A Culture of Grief: When A Child Dies held in Scottsdale, AZ, in May 2002. Hawk & I facilitated "The Personality of Support Groups" at the MISS Passages Conference on "When a child dies...Rising From The Ashes" held in Tapatio Cliffs, AZ, May 2003.
