BLUES AIN’T NOTHING BUT A TONIC is Revish Windham’s fourth book of poetry. I Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey (2001) was his third. His first two, Shades of Black (1970) and Shades of Anger (1972), are both included in several historic collections including: Schomburg Library in Harlem, Alabama Collection at Auburn University, Jefferson County Collection in Fayette, Mississippi, the Study Center in African American History & Culture located in the Prudence Crandall House, Canterbury, Connecticut and the Poetry House in New York City. His individual poems have been published in many newspapers, journals, anthologies and magazines since 1967. He served for four years in the USN, earned his BA from Morris Brown in Atlanta, Georgia and MPA from New York University. He worked with drug addicted clients for the City of New York Social Service Department for three years. He retired in 1999 from New York State, having worked with teenagers and their families for the Division for Youth, then addressing human rights issues at the Division of Human Rights. He holds membership in several organizations including: The Academy of American Poets, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Convent Avenue Baptist Church, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Lodge State of NY, the 36th Veterans’ Association and the American Legion. He sits on several not-for-profit boards including: Philipsburg Manor African American Advisory Board and Southeast Bronx Neighborhood Center, Inc. He also has received many honors including: Who’s Who in U.S. Writer’s, Editors and Poets – (first) 1998 and Who’s Who In America-(first) 2005. Currently Windham resides and does his writing in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
