This is the first volume in a series on recent developments, international and comparative perspectives. As social professions are more and more forced to walk a pathway of cut-backs and political restrictions under supposedly democratic goals, this book aims at taking an active part in the international debate around the political responsibility of those working in the field, aiming as well at bringing together the different areas of professional work in the social science field.
