Summary: "Ms. Morrison's versatility and technical and emotional range appear to know no bounds....'Beloved' is written in an antiminimalist prose that is by turns rich, graceful, eccentric, rough, lyrical, sinuous, colloquial and very much to the point....In this book, the other world exists and magic works, and the prose is up to it. If you can believe page one--and Ms. Morrison's verbal authority compels belief--you're hoo...ked on the rest of the book."

I liked that the book was small enough to carry to school everyday.

Some other books had a side note about certain phrases which was helpful because there were certain phrases I didn't understand in this book.

The way African Americans were treated is exposed in this book!!!! A must read not matter what, this should be read in High school and then again in College for better comprehension.

Nothing!! It treats of a difficult topic but worth the reading.

This book was read for an base English class. It has very complex character development and is a wonderful book for discussions as most people will have different but valid opinions on almost every part. There are many parts that are confusing and hard to visualize, but Oprah's movie adeptation helps give you a wonderful understanding of what is happening.

This book was about a black family that used to be a slave but had their freedom bought as well as ran away. Eventually a young lady joins the family claiming to be a previously murdered member of the family. The entire book is the families slow decent and return from the brink of insanity.

This book is amazing. Toni Morrison did a great job in portraying the characters as she did.

I was required by my English professor to read this book.

I learned a lot about life in slavery. This novel was a great look into the past without being a dry nonfiction story. I enjoyed the supernatural and mystery aspects as well.

This novel was not my favorite story. The novel did quite a bit for learning purposes but was a tad bit boring at times.
