This book is for all the parents who have walked the same road as me, who have felt the pain, anger, and struggles, but also the love, strength, and rewards of having a disabled child. I’ve lost three sons at birth. One son was before my daughter, and two sons were after. I understand the pain of death and the pain of finding out that my only child, Jennifer, is mentally and physically disabled. I also understand how it is to watch your only child slowly die. I will tell of the good and bad days, but also my deepest feelings. I want parents to know they’re not alone. I’ve had those feelings too. We’re not perfect, only parents that love our special children” and want the best life possible for them. I hope that those who don’t have a disabled child will understand and love our children for who they are and not what the world says they’re supposed to be. You see, I had dreams of my daughter being a nurse, lawyer, mother, or whatever, but those dreams were only mine. God had other plans for my daughter, Jennifer. Jennifer taught us so much in her seventeen years here on earth.
