Otis Possum, a furry little creature in search of a home and love, gave his name to a little possum town buried deep in the old growth forest of Oregon. Through the friends he made along his journey, Otis learned many of life’s hard lessons. In Otis’s first adventure, he ignores the advice of his wise friend Owl, as he searches for something that was right under his nose since the day he arrived. In the second part, Otis is told the story of White Calf, the elk he met in Idaho, and how White Calf overcame the adversity in his life and became a hero to his forest family. In the third story in this book, Otis tells his dear wife about Bessie, an old, ragged possum he befriended when he was young. Otis saw how his hometown’s nosey gossip, Agatha Possum, with her treachery, nearly destroyed Bessie’s life, but in the end she redeemed herself in an unselfish and heartwarming way.
