Believing that their eternal destiny is resolved, many limp through life-weak, ineffective, and unhappy. But Jesus said, "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Does "abundant" describe your life? Does it seem like there should be more to salvation than eternal life? Are you doing all the things you were taught a Christian should do-pray, read the Bible, attend church, serve God-and still feel a deep longing for meaning and purpose? Do you serve God but find it less than satisfying? Do you think you could overcome sin, be a better Christian, and do more for God if you just tried harder? Are you worn out from trying harder? We can strive to achieve abundant life but our efforts will fall short. Jesus modeled the perfect life by living on earth the way God intended: in a dependent relationship, drawing upon God's abundant resources. Those same resources are available to you. Christy Bower had been a believer for years, and even completed a year of seminary, before she learned to rely on God's abundant resources.
