I just started using this book, but it's got a great selection of vocabulary. I've already learned many different definitions!read more
Everything from previous chapters is the basis for the rest of the info! I learned a lot of vocab that I can carry through the rest of book!
This book focusses on abnormal psychology; everything from mental disorders to history of psychology and different perspectives. It is very good at explaining the topics and has so much information!read more
It explained subjects in a way that I could easily understand without having to decipher each and every word.
I actually enjoyed reading the different types of diseases and disorders that effect our mental state and how the DSMII codes them to severity.read more
This book was a lot easier to read and was helpful.
The class for this book was Abnormal Psychology and focused on psychological disorders and the criteria and prevalence of these disorders.read more
I would not focus so much on prevalence and criteria. Anyone can open a DSM and read what is required for diagnosis of a disorder. I would like to see more case studies and the subsequent treatment for these cases.
I am not sure about the comparison, but this book appears to me to be designed for easy learning. I like the way the subtopics define and support the topicread more
The thing I recall the most is the story about rape that talked about how a sexual offender used avoidace to deal with his weekness and to help him overcome. Because being delivered from rape is most difficult and his story might help somebody else to deal with a situation that they may have otherwise been swallowed up in.
The least helpful part of this book was the glossary because it didn't include the page number next to the definitionread more
This book was about average compared to the other books i've read on the same subject matter.
