Top 25 Jobs for College Students- Part 3/5
by VictorSo far, we have posted 10 jobs that we believe are great choices for college students who are looking to lessen the blow of college expenses and gain valuable work experience. Here are five more jobs to hold you over until next week! What do you think?
15. Nanny/Babysitter: These positions are normally paid off the books, so you can earn a decent amount of money per hour. Additionally, you can study and do your homework after the kids go to bed and you have the power to set the times when you are available. If you do not know any families in your area who could use your services, try a site like sittercity.com to get started.
14. Bartender: Why not get paid to hang out where you’d be anyway on a Friday or Saturday night? It might not be a bad idea to be the one making money while your friends are the ones spending it. Working at a bar is a great way to meet people and make connections. Bar owners usually like hiring people who are outgoing and have large circles of friends who can bring consistent business to the bar.
13. Bank Teller: A bank teller is the perfect job if you are friendly, prefer predictable hours or have plans to work at a bank in a managerial capacity in the future. Where better to start then on the front line? Teller’s are responsible for making routine transactions such as making deposits, cashing checks, loan payments and withdrawals. Working as a teller will gain you customer service experience and sharpen your basic mathematic skills.
12. Retail Manager: As long as you don’t mind working nights, weekends and pretty much every holiday, you can learn a lot of business savvy by working in retail management. Store managers are responsible for hiring, training, motivating, selling, merchandising and inventory management. These skills are highly transferrable to any business career you may want to pursue post graduation. If you can land or be promoted from a sales associate to a store or department manager, you also will see a decent increase in pay, just don’t expect to get rich any time soon.
11. Tutor: So you’re failing advanced college chemistry, but you are great at high school algebra. Put those skills to use and become a tutor! Tutoring is a great way to make money during college, but it’s also flexible and one of those “feel good” jobs. Local middle and high schools are usually looking for tutors on both a paid and volunteer basis, so see what is available in your area.
