Ray D. Kent is Professor of Communicative Disorders at the University of Wisconsin [em]Madison. His current primary research interest is neurogenic speech disorders in children and adults, especially the disorders associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, cerebellar disease, stroke, and cerebral palsy. Other research interests include speech development in infants and young children, measuring speech intelligibility and quality, acoustic analyses of speech, and theories of speech production Charles Read is Professor of Linguistics and Associate Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin[en]Madison. He directs the Phonetics Laboratory in Linguistics and conducts research on the phonetic foundations of reading and writing.
