Gaby Vallejo, Cochababa, Bolivia, has been a distinguished Professor of Language and Literature, president of the Bolivian branch of PEN, and an advocate for children's libraries. Gaby Vallejo has published four novels, stories for children, and numerous articles on literary criticism, education, and cultural anthropology. A numbered member of La Academia Boliviana de la Lengua, she has won various awards, including the Erich Guttentag for Hijo de opa!, and the 2001 national prize in literature Alice Weldon, a native of North Carolina, with a B.A. degree from Duke University and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, currently teaches Spanish, Humanities and Women's Studies at the University of North Carolina-Asheville. In addition to literary criticism on Latin American Women writers, Dr. Weldon has published literary translations.
